Apple Pay officially launches in Russia

“Apple launched Apple Pay in Russia on Tuesday, extending the payment platform’s reach to ten countries around the globe,” Jake Smith reports for ZDNet.

“Apple Pay, which allows users to pay with an iPhone or Apple Watch through a contactless sales point, will be available through Sberbank and MasterCard,” Smith reports. “Apple Pay launched in [the U.S.A.] 2014, with the gradual global rollout making the service available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland and United Kingdom.”

Microsoft quietly moving out of the wearable business

In 2014, Microsoft entered the market by introducing "The Microsoft Band," a wearable device to go head-to-head with other companies to try and capture some of the market share.

Fast forward to October, 2016. Microsoft has quietly pulled all remaining stock of the device on its website and also pulled the devices SDK from its MSDN Developer's web site.

Publication ZDNet received an official statement from Microsoft about the matter. The statement says:

"We have sold through our existing Band 2 inventory and have no plans to release another Band device this year. We remain committed to supporting our Microsoft Band 2 customers through Microsoft Stores and our customer support channels and will continue to invest in the Microsoft Health platform, which is open to all hardware and apps partners across Windows, iOS, and Android devices."

The device received poor hardware and price reviews ever since the band was introduced. The company even tried to revive sales by giving deals for those persons who traded in an Apple Watch.
