How to Convert a document to a PDF (the easy way!) on Mac

PDFLogoPDF documents are a file format that allows virtually any computer to view them.  Small businesses to Fortune 500 companies use PDFs to store documents or email them to another employee or client.

Some companies may have you believe that you have to purchase a piece of software in order to convert documents to PDF.  While this maybe true with Windows, it isn't with a Mac.  Here's how:

1. Open a document with any text or word editor that you wish to convert the document.
2. Select [Command] + [P] to bring up the print dialog window.
3. On the lower-left of the window is a drop down choice that says PDF.  Click on the down arrow.
4. Inside that drop down menu is a choice that says "SAVE AS PDF".  Choose that.
5. The SAVE dialog window opens.  Give the document a name and then press SAVE.
6. That's it!  The document is now a PDF document.

Ahead of Sept. 7th Event, Apple Watch almost completely sold out

AppleWatch-2“We noted last month that Apple Watch inventory was shrinking ahead of Apple’s expected fall event, and now it appears that almost all stainless steel Apple Watch models are sold out online and in limited supply in stores,” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac.

“Only one version of the steel Apple Watch is available to order online, and seven of the aluminum Apple Watch Sport models are sold out as well,” Hall reports. “This could mean a few things for Apple Watch 2 news at Apple’s September 7 ‘iPhone 7’ event.”

“Depleted inventory this many days before an event and possible launch date suggest Apple Watch 2 could be available in stores earlier in the month rather than several weeks after the announcement,” Hall reports. “Apple Watch Sport is also more available… This could suggest that first-generation stainless steel Apple Watches are discontinued while Apple keeps older Sport models around to hit a lower price… But there’s another aspect to consider. Analyst firm KGI expects a new Apple Watch 2 and a modified Apple Watch 1 with a slightly faster processor.”

Hillary Clinton’s first email server was a Power Mac

PowerMacG4“As she was being confirmed as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton contacted Colin Powell to ask him about his use of a Blackberry while in the same role. According to a Federal Bureau of Investigations memorandum published today, Powell warned Clinton that if it became public that she was using a Blackberry to “do business,” her e-mails would be treated as “official” record and be subject to the law,” Sean Gallagher reports for Ars Technica. “‘Be very careful,’ Powell said according to the FBI. ‘I got around it all by not saying much and not using systems that captured the data.'”

“Clinton told the FBI that she didn’t take factor Powell’s advice into her decision to use a personal mail server—a statement that seems obvious based on the tens of thousands of e-mails now being published as the result of lawsuits, congressional and FBI investigations, and Freedom of Information Act requests,” Gallagher reports. “Just how far she deviated from that advice is evident in the detailed history gathered by the FBI. Their information on the Clintons’ e-mail infrastructure dates back to Hillary Clinton’s tenure in the US Senate, and this new release shows how that infrastructure was intertwined with the information technology used by former president Bill Clinton’s staff.”

“Perhaps Clinton’s troubles began when she switched from a Blackberry-hosted e-mail account to an account on her Clintonemail.com domain — a domain hosted on an Apple Power Mac ‘G4 or G5′ tower running in the Clintons’ Chappaqua, New York residence. The switch to the Power Mac as a server occurred the same month she exchanged messages with Powell,” Gallagher reports. “The Power Mac, originally purchased in 2007 by former President Clinton’s aide Justin Cooper, had acted as the server for presidentclinton.com and wjcoffice.com. Cooper managed most of the technology support for Bill Clinton and took charge of setting up Hillary Clinton’s new personal mail system on the Power Mac, which sat alongside a firewall and network switching hardware in the basement of the Clintons’ home. Accounts were set up for Secretary Clinton and her staff by her husband’s staff. But the Power Mac was having difficulty handling the additional load created by Blackberry usage from Secretary Clinton and her staff, so…”

The Amazon Echo is coming to the United Kingdom on September 14th

AmazonEchoAccording to The Verge, Amazon has sent out a mysterious invite to the United Kingdom publications on Friday morning, hinting that the company may be launching its Amazon Echo product in that country.

The company's invite doesn't drop too many hints, but if you ask Alexa (Echo's voice assistant) what's happening on September 14th, you get a good idea.

"I promised I wouldn't tell," replies Alexa.

in a video posted by Engadget editor Matt Brian. "A visit to London has always been on my bucket list." The press invite comes just weeks after a blogger found that Bing was caching a mysterious URL on Amazon's UK site for Echo preorders with a September 16th release date. That caching might have been a mistake for another product, but Alexa is clearly dropping hints we'll see the Echo launch internationally for the first time since its debut last year.
