iPhone 7 Survives Drop Tests Better then iPhone 6s

Apparently, Apple has been listening to its customers and making future iPhones more durable and drop resistant.

A web site by the name of EverythingApplePro conducted some drop tests between an iPhone 6s and a new iPhone 7.  The test was conducted by dropping both iPhones from 10 feet.  The test was conducted with both iPhones dropped from the side of the phone and face down.

The results?  The iPhone 6s was completely shattered, while the iPhone 7 seemed to be ok.  But the iPhone 7’s rear sapphire cover glass (the camera bump) was damaged but the person could still take photos.

Of course, Apple makes no claims about the durability of their iPhones.  But, as the tests show, they are headed in the right direction.

To view the actual test, watch below.

How to Disable the Press Home to Unlock Feature in iOS 10

iphonehomebuttonNow that iOS 10 is officially out, I can finally tell you what annoys me and what doesn't about the newest upgrade.

Although it didn't annoy me during the Betas, the new "Press the Home Button to Unlock" is getting to be annoying.  While there is no way to restore the slide-to-unlock option that previous iOS versions had, there is a less painful way to deal with it.

After the below change, users can firmly press the Home button to unlock the phone.  Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility.
  2. Choose the Home Button option.
  3. Choose the "Rest Finger to Open" option.
  4. Slide that to the ON position.
  5. That's it.

Again, there is currently no way to bring back the "Slide to open" option, but this will make it less painful.

Target and Best Buy having problems with Apple Watch Inventory

AppleWatch-2Brick and mortar retailers Target and Best Buy have apparently not been given enough inventory to fulfill all pre-orders, and are emailing customers informing them that their pre-orders of the Apple Watch Series 2 will not be shipped by the promised date.

Pre-orders at both retailers started alongside Apple's process on Sept. 9, with early buyers being told that shipments would arrive on launch day.

Late Thursday, Best Buy emailed customers saying they would start shipping Apple Watch orders on Sept. 28. Target started sending emails on Friday morning, informing people of stock issues of the Apple Watch, and have not given any indication when shipments might go out.

Both Target and Best Buy are offering Apple Watch Series 2 customers a $50 in-store credit for the inconvenience.
