Fox Sports Go for Apple TV lets viewers watch four games at the same time

2015-AppleTVLogoEarly Friday, Fox Sports released an Apple TV app that lets users watch up to 4 games at the same time (if they already have authenticated access to the associated channels).

Users can stream Fox Sports 1 and 2, Fox Soccer Plus, Fox Deportes, and Fox College Sports, as well as some other content depending on a person's location and cable/satellite subscriptions. Many leagues are covered, including MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, UEFA, and UFC, though regional and device restrictions may apply.

Authentication options are fairly wide, including not just conventional TV providers like Cox or Time Warner Cable, but some internet-only services like Sling TV and PlayStation Vue.

Fox Sports GO is a free download from the tvOS App Store. The iOS version of the app, by contrast, only supports watching one game at a time, even on iPads.

Apple and Netflix customers targets of e-mail invoicing scam

NetflixLogo2016“Apple customers are being targeted in a series of new scams involving invoices containing fake iTunes, App Store or Netflix purchases,” This is Money reports.

“The bogus emails – likely to have been sent to thousands of people – are aimed at stealing your bank details by making people think someone has gone shopping using your Apple account,” This is Money reports. “The invoices seen by MailOnline and all headed with the Apple logo and using its distinctive font, say the user has bought music on iTunes or purchased a new annual Netflix subscription.”

This is Money reports, “Police have also been sharing images of the Netflix email on Twitter to warn people not to be duped.”

Apple Confirms: iOS 9.3.4 has a Nasty Surprise

iOSLogo“The iPhone 7 is very close and the all singing all dancing iOS 10 will come with it,” Gordon Kelly writes for Forbes. “But right now most iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users are on iOS 9.3.4 and Apple has confirmed to me it contains a nasty surprise that, for millions, will never be fixed.”

“The problem in iOS 9.3.4 is an incompatibility between VoiceOver and voice dictation which is hitting disabled and, in particular, blind users hard,” Kelly writes. “In short: with VoiceOver enabled (it describes everything on your screen with a triple press of the home button) voice dictation is broken producing duplicate and often muddled words – notably when quick replying to messages in the notification centre.”

“Perhaps the most interesting aspect to all of this, however, are claims this feature has been broken since the original launch of iOS 9 in September 2015 and Apple has not attempted to fixed it in any subsequent upgrade,” Kelly writes. “The good news is the bug will be fixed in iOS 10 (and is already fixed in the latest iOS 10 public beta). The bad news is there are no plans to fix the bug in iOS 9 and with iPhone 4S, iPad Mini, iPad 3rd gen and iPod touch 5th gen users not entitled to iOS 10 upgrades, users of those devices will be left with the bug until they buy something new.”

Tim Cook to host Fundraiser for Hillary Clinton Wednesday evening

HillaryClinton2016Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to host a fundraiser for Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton who has the most support for Silicon Valley workers this evening.

It should be noted that Tim Cook and Silicon Valley is likely not supporting Donald Trump because he has made numerous controversial statements, and called for policies like new ideological tests for immigrants, aimed explicitly at Muslims.

Trump has even criticized Apple directly, in one case for refusing to help the FBI unlock the iPhone of San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook. Apple argued that it would've had to write new software and fundamentally undermine iOS security. Trump proposed a boycott, despite owning Apple stock himself.

The candidate has also promised to make Apple bring more of its manufacturing back to the U.S. Most of the company's products are assembled in China, taking advantage of cheap labor costs.
