Now Siri has Humorous Answers for Pokemon Go

PokemonGoLogoThe popular game, Pokemon Go, has found its way into Siri's vocabulary.  The Siri team has found time to come up with some humorous answers for the game.

To activate it, just say: "Hey Siri, do you like Pokemon Go?"

To which Siri responds with one of the below answers:

  • “I like playing peekaboo with Pikacu.”
  • “PokéStop!”
  • “Of course. That’s what it’s all about. Oh, wait, that’s the hoké Pokémon.”
  • “Snorlax. Zzzz. Sorry, what was the question?”
  • “Confining virtual beings inside powerful devices makes me feel funny for some reason.”
  • “Oh, is that why everyone keeps asking what color a Geodude is?”
  • “Chance! Go!”
  • “I’ve been looking in the muck for Muk.”
  • “I like pocket monsters. Pocket assistants, too.”
  • “Just make sure to look both ways. And up and down, too.”

This addition is available now on all iOS devices.

New Apple Store set to open at World Trade Center, NYC on August 16th

WTCNYC
Apple has announced an August 16th grand opening date for its new retail store located within the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan.

The WTC Apple Store will feature a $4 billion Oculus structure designed by Santiago Calatrava.

The building serves as retail mall and an extravagant connection between the underground station for PATH trains arriving from New Jersey and the local New York City subways.

The breathtaking expense of the structure, built near the site of the original WTC twin towers destroyed in a terrorist attack in 2001, has festered as a subject of controversy. Apple—along with other retailers—also reportedly took issue with some of the design elements of the building, including the rib-like columns that extend into the retail space of tenants within the mall, obscuring windows and signage.

Samsung Pay Flaw lets thieves remotely obtain credit card information

SamsungPayLogo“Samsung Pay’s legacy point-of-sale system compatibility mode may be insecure, as a token theft and remote use vulnerability was demonstrated by a security researcher at the Black Hat conference,” Mike Wuerthele reports for AppleInsider.

“The potential security flaw, demonstrated by security analyst Salvador Mendoza at the Black Hat security conference, relies on Samsung’s “magnetic secure transmission” central to Samsung Pay’s ability to work at existing magnetic stripe point-of-sale terminals,” Wuerthele reports. “A proof of concept magnetic hardware capture device was demonstrated by Mendoza at the conference. His prototype build was strapped to his arm, and forwarded intercepted tokens to an email address. The prototype is also sufficiently small to be hidden inside a point of sale terminal.”

Wuerthele reports, “Samsung claims that the skimming attack which results in a token relay to a third party is a ‘known issue’ and is an ‘acceptable’ potential risk, given the difficulty of executing the attack.”

Rumor: Apple Prepping all new MacBook Pro lineup with OLED touch strip and more

MacBookAir2011“Apple Inc. is preparing the first significant overhaul of its MacBook Pro laptop line in over four years, according to people familiar with the matter, using one of its older products to help reverse two quarters of sliding sales,” Mark Gurman reports for Bloomberg. “The updated notebooks will be thinner, include a touch screen strip for function keys, and will be offered with more powerful and efficient graphics processors for expert users such as video gamers, said the people, who asked not to be named. The most significant addition to the new MacBook Pro is a secondary display above the keyboard that replaces the standard function key row. Instead of physical keys, a strip-like screen will present functions on an as-needed basis that fit the current task or application. The smaller display will use Organic Light-Emitting Diodes.”

“Apple’s goal with the dedicated function display is to simplify keyboard shortcuts traditionally used by experienced users,” Gurman reports. “The new top-of-the-line MacBook Pros will be slightly thinner than the current models but are not tapered like the MacBook Air and latest 12-inch MacBook, one of the people said. The new MacBook Pros have a smaller footprint than current models and the casing has shallower curves around the edges. The pressure-sensitive trackpad is also slightly wider, the person added.”

“Apple is planning to bring over its Touch ID fingerprint technology from the iPhone to the new MacBook Pro line. Apple has tested versions of the upcoming laptops that integrate the scanner beside the new function key display, according to one of the people. The sensor would allow users to log in more quickly and theoretically authenticate Apple Pay purchases,” Gurman reports. “Like with iPhones, the new Pro laptops will encrypt fingerprint data so it can’t be removed from the devices.”
