Apple Pay now supports ExxonMobil Speedpass

Early Tuesday, ExxonMobil announced that it now supports Apple Pay. In order to use it, customers have to download a special app for iOS which allows the iPhone to communicate with the Speedpass function at a gas pump.

During today's announcement, a representative showed how to use the option and said:

"Anything that involves the pump from a hardware point of view takes years to deploy and is extremely expensive," Bryant Russell, Americas program manager for mobile payment and loyalty at ExxonMobil, said during a demo of the app at the San Mateo gas station."

The rollout will be seen at more than 6,000 ExxonMobil gas stations in 46 states, with a goal to expand to 2,000 by the summer and all 10,000 locations across the United States by the end of 2016.

Apple updates its "End of Life" list: Mid 2010 15 and 17-inch MacBook Pros

Apple has updated its vintage and obsolete hardware list, and has included the following to that list:

Mid 2010 15 inch MacBook Pro.
Mid 2010 17 inch MacBook Pro.
Early 2009 Xserve systems.

The older notebooks and server rack hardware are now classified as vintage in the United States and Turkey, and obsolete in the rest of the world, according to Apple.

Macs and other products on the vintage and obsolete list are generally no longer eligible for hardware service, but OS X El Capitan still supports many older Macs back to Mid 2007. Apple defines vintage products as those that have not been manufactured for more than five but less than seven years.

Weird Glitch causing some iOS users to receive blank emails dated 01-01-1970

Not long after Apple fixed the bricking problem when someone puts the date to 01-01-1970 on iOS devices, now some users are reporting that they are receiving blank emails that has no subject or content, and are either dated 01-01-1970 or 01-01-2001.

The problem seems to pop-up when a user is changing timezones.

The problem was brought up by a Reddit user who posted the "problem" to its message board.

However, it doesn't seem to be causing major problems with either the device, or the operating system. Quitting the email app and restarting the device (hold down power and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears) seem to fix the problem.
