Reconsidering purchasing an iPhone 4S? You'll have to wait a while

If you're one of the few people that did not get an iPhone 4S by pre-ordering it, or on launch day, and are reconsidering it - you'll have to wait a while.

At last we checked late Tuesday, the average wait time for the 4S in any color, or any cell carrier, is a (minimum) 14 to 20 days.

Oh, one more thing . . . .

If you did order one, and are considering canceling the order and picking one up at a local retail store - don't.  Neither Apple, AT&T, Sprint or Verizon will let you cancel an online order.

How to: Do a reboot of your iOS device

Like any computer, an iOS device needs to be rebooted sometimes to clear out any memory problems or other things that may cause your iOS device to crash or not work at all.  The below works with any generation iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad.

1.  Hold down the [POWER] and the [HOME] buttons at the same time.
2.  Ignore the normal shutdown dialog - keep holding these buttons.
3.  Release them when you see the Apple Logo.

That's it.

A subject that was NOT in the media about Sunday's 60 Minutes

By: Dan Uff

As a person with a disability, and a computer geek since the early 1980's, I am always on the lookout for computer hardware and software for persons with disabilities, even though my small software company doesn't make such software.

On Sunday evening's 60 Minutes, after the interview with the author of Steve Jobs's bio, they had a report on how persons with Autism are using the Apple iPad as a way to communicate.

As some of you know, a person with Autism cannot communicate with the outside world.  The person's speech is affected and the person seems to be 'in their own world' sort to speak.  The 60 Minutes report showed three persons with Autism using an Apple iPad to communicate with the outside world.

While it is true (and as the report showed) an iPad is not for all persons with Autism.  But this writer feels that it is a step in the right direction.

For more information or to see the report again, you can go to CBSNEWS.COM and click on the '60 Minutes' option, or you can also download the iPad app and gain access to the report that way.

Android tops Apple with global app share of 44%

New research from ABI shows that Android mobile operating system surpassed Apple's iOS in the market share of downloaded mobile app downloads. During the second quarter of the year, Android saw a 44 percent market share compared to iOS' 31 percent. ABI research associate Lim Shiyang said Android's open source nature is the driving factor behind its recent success.
