Public Service Announcement

The following are some tips from X.com user Arjan Garg to help make your iPhone as secure as possible.

  1. Lock/Hide apps to prevent someone from accessing private information (Press/Hold app icon > select ‘Require Face ID’ > choose the option (or ‘Hide and Require Face ID).

  2. Enable Privacy Settings on Safari (Safari > Settings).

  3. Enable App Tracking Transparency for preventing an app from tracking your activity across other apps. (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).

  4. Enable Mail Tracking Protection to stop email senders from tracking your activity or emails (Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection > Enable ‘Protect Mail Activity’.

  5. Enable Stolen Device Protection to prevent a thief from accessing your accounts & personal information by requiring only biometric authentication & imposing delays to change passwords when iPhone is away from familiar locations. (Settings > Face ID & Passcode).

  6. Turn on App Privacy Report to view apps’ access to sensor data like location, camera, and microphone, etc. & apps’ network activity and the most contacted web domains. (Settings > Privacy & Security > App Privacy Report).

  7. Use Safety Check to quickly review, update and stop sharing your information with individual people and apps. (Settings > Privacy & Security > Safety Check.)

  8. Choose Hide My Email when using Mail or an app/website with Sign in with Apple so your personal email address can stay private.

  9. ISPs & websites can track your IP, DNS, and browsing history to profile you. iCloud Private Relay blocks this by ensuring no single party—not even Apple—can see both your identity and activity. (available only with iCloud+).

  10. Turn on Apple Intelligence Report to generate a report of requests your iPhone has sent to Private Cloud Compute. (Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Intelligence Support).
